LGV Bordeaux – Toulouse: 14 municipalities in southern Charente will pay
I believe that the inhabitants of the territory will not take it well.
A “special equipment tax” which will be lodged on the property tax sheets of all owners to finance part of the work on the future Bordeaux – Toulouse high-speed line. 29 million to be distributed among the taxpayers. 4% of the property tax in addition, which should, according to the estimates put forward by Carole Delga, the president of the Occitanie region, representing only 3 to 4 euros per year and per tax form. Without indication of duration.
In a difficult context, between rising energy prices and inflation, it is a contribution that risks causing everyone to ss, while the Charente has already been called upon for the construction of the LGV between Tours and Bordeaux, and that since 2017, users and elected officials have been constantly repeating that the account is not there, especially in terms of services.
The special contribution is especially likely to go badly in the south of Charente and more particularly in the territory of the 4Bs. This is where the fourteen municipalities that will have to go to the checkout have been listed.
Baignes-Sainte-Radegonde; Berneuil, Boisbreteau, Bors (Canton of Charente-Sud), Chantillac, Condéon, Guizengeard, Montmérac, Oriolles, Reignac, Salles-de-Barbezieux, Sauvignac, Le Tâtre, Touvérac, were selected on a single criterion: they present themselves to less than an hour by car from a station served by the future LGV. And so Bordeaux Saint-Jean station. This is the case for 2,340 municipalities in the south-west. And the Charente might feel a bit removed from the debate.
“A high-speed line to Toulouse, why not, comments Jacques Chabot. But we are not going to be more served for all that. I don’t find it so logical, reacts, hot, the elected official of the south Charente. A little strong coffee, even. I do not live to denigrate the LGV which caused an undeniable attraction for the development of Angoulême, and not that, recognizes the chosen one. “But will there be the same effect on Toulouse, I’m not sure. »
“Necessarily united”
To the north, the clock stopped just before Barbezieux. The county seat will not pay. Reignac yes. And its mayor, Daniel Sauvaître has a voice that could appear discordant. “But I am three hours from Bordeaux by carquips the chosen one. But I am in favor of it, because I know that it is not free, that there is someone who pays. If it can allow the project to succeed, to contribute to structuring the territories, I am in solidarity ”. From his experience. “I work with a director who lives in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche. When I see the job that it is for him to go to Paris…”
A position that is not unanimous. “Coming to solicit territories like ours is a bit overwhelminginsists Jacques Chabot. Between the number of people impacted and those able to take a Bordeaux – Toulouse, it bothers me”…
Remains an unknown for the elected officials. The tax, specifies article 103 of the 2022 finance law, will be distributed among all persons, natural or legal, subject to property taxes. Communities could therefore be called upon to contribute to their land. The “double penalty” for taxpayers.
