CCTV is coming to metro trains
Smile, you’re being filmed. The testing phase of CCTV cameras in the subway trains has just started Toulouse. In recent days, a white and black installation has appeared in some public transport trains in Tisseo. It’s a camera and there will be many more by 2024.

An “indispensable” tool
It is an installation that was awarded to the consortium led by SPIE City Networks on October 20, 2021. The latter are in charge of setting up video protection on board the trains of the Toulouse metro. And they started their work in the last few days with the first cameras installed. For Jean-Michel Lattes, president of Tisséo Communitiesit is an important piece of equipment:
CCTV is an essential and complementary tool to the human presence. It will contribute to the tranquility of travelers and staff. It will provide additional support for the safety and operation of the network.”
1,392 term cameras
If we are already starting to see some, the video protection cameras will be gradually put in place over the next two years. They will be installed in 116 frames of the metro lines A and B. Also note that Tisseo planned to put them in the 15 new trains which will be put into service from 2024.
For the moment, video protection is being tested for a period of six months. Its objective is to fight against all forms of harassment or deviant behavior, according to Tisséo. Ultimately, these are 1,392 cameras which will be installed on the entire metro network by 2024.
