HC Sparta Prague » Kousal do Sparta, Přibyl and Dvořáček are guests
5/1/2023 HC Sparta
The 24-year-old striker from Mladá Boleslav Pavel Kousal is coming to Sparta, who will defend the Spartan jersey in the following seasons. Daniel Přibyl and David Dvořáček are leaving on loan until the end of the season in the opposite direction. The rights to both hockey players remain with Sparta.
Pavel Kousal was by far the most productive player and top scorer for Mladá Boleslav in this year’s season, and he did the same in the last extra-league season. “We agreed with Pavel to stay in Sparta until the end of this and the next two seasons. At the age of twenty-four, he has his best hockey years ahead of him. He can already be a team leader and be very productive.” said sports manager Jaroslav Hlinka. With his statistics, Pavel Kousal is currently the club’s third most productive player.
In the opposite direction, Daniel Přibyl and David Dvořáček are leaving on loan until the end of the season. “Příba asked to be released to the team, where she will get more space. We have a great relationship and we decided to accommodate him,” stated Hlinka. “We will discuss with David Dvořáček about continuing in Sparta in the next seasons, we are certainly not closing even one door back to Sparta,” assured the sports manager, who at the same time thanked both of them not only for their performances in this area.
Kousal: The exchange took place unexpectedly quickly
Did you enjoy your first morning in Sparta?
Yeah, everything is great. I only found out that I was going to Sparta late on Wednesday evening, so I was a bit surprised. I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. But the facilities here are great, the cabin is nice and the guys were cool. They had a lot of fun with me, I know some of them from before, so it was great for me.
How did you feel at the first training session?
The pace was high. As the playground is smaller here, I was expecting something a little different. (smiles) The training was great, I enjoyed it. I was a little nervous at the first practice, but after that it was good.
Do you see Sparta as a shift in your career?
Definitely yes! I thought to myself that there are slightly different players in Sparta who will push me further. I believe that I will do as well as in Mladá Boleslav, ideally even better.
You are currently our third most productive player, did you know?
(laughs) No no, I didn’t even have a chance to think about it. I just hope that the boys in Boleslav will get a little impulse and get up, because the situation there is not very good.
Did it play a role that the team is coached by Miloslav Hořava, whom you know from Mladá Boleslav?
For me he is one of the best coaches. If you ask anyone he’s coached, they’ll tell you the same thing. I’m glad he’s here.
You should spend two more seasons in our team. Are you glad to be sure?
I took a long time to decide, but I hope that Sparta will move me. I don’t want to say all the reasons why I made this decision, but I’m very happy to be able to play here. I hope they won’t be upset in Boleslav and the fans here will like me. I’m really looking forward to coming here!
PROFILE AND STATISTICS OF PAVLA KOUSAL:
The native of Jihlava started his career in the local Dukla, where he went through the youth structure up to the junior team. The productive youngster in 2015/2016 collected more than a game among the seniors and played in the Under-18 World Cup, so it was no surprise that after a successful year he flew to try his luck overseas.
In the Spokane Chiefs organization, he scored ten points in 49 games in the WHL, but after a year he returned to the Czech Republic. Even due to the absence of Jihlava in the top competition, however, he transferred to Mladá Boleslav, considering that during six seasons I created a stable place in the team and even became a member of the wider staff of the national team.
In January 2023, however, the time came for a change, as Pavel Kousal nodded to an exchange between Sparta and Mlada Boleslaví, where Daniel Přibyl and David Dvořáček went on loan. The young forward did not go to Prague until the end of the season, but even signed a contract for the next two years.
