Ancient telephone at Frankfurt Airport causes ridicule on the internet
A photo of an old telephone in a multi-storey car park at Frankfurt Airport has appeared on the Internet and amuses users.
Frankfurt – The Airport Frankfurt is one of the largest and most modern airports in Europe. More than 70 million passengers are transported to Germany’s main air traffic hub every year. Only the airports in London, Paris and Amsterdam have a higher passenger volume. However, a photo on the web is now causing astonishment about the equipment on the premises Frankfurt.
“In a hidden corner of Frankfurt Airport,” as IST reads in the image caption, an ancient telephone was discovered, much to the amusement of many users, reports fnp.de. on reddit one user wrote scornfully: “Can you go online with this thing?”
Old telephone from Frankfurt airport is no longer used
A veritable discussion ensues about the origin and use of the old telephone. The user who posted the photo said that he “didn’t check the function.” The device is also in the “employee car park.” A closer look at the picture reveals that a cable from the device is loose in the air hanging around. Accordingly, the telephone with the old turntable should no longer be in use.
Terminal 1 at Frankfurt Airport was completed in the late 1960s. It’s quite possible that the phone dates back to that time. The device is a phone from Funke + Huster, which used to make phones for mining, but also for outdoor locations. Apparently, the employee car park at Frankfurt Airport was also equipped with these devices.
Frankfurt airport of contrasts: new meets old
Despite the age-old telephone, Frankfurt Airport is extremely modern. Even if the device has probably not been used for a long time, the modern airport probably could not part with the material memory – or the telephone was simply and eminently forgotten. Now the device has once again caused joy on the Internet. Because the contrast between the world port and the find contains a lot of nostalgia. But not only the telephone has been the same at Frankfurt Airport for 60 years. Because also one Flight from Frankfurt to New York needed as 60 years ago still eight hours today. (jsk)
