Take a look: New Masaryk station will change the form of travel and the center of Prague
The Masaryk station in the center of Prague came a little closer to a fundamental transformation. The Railway Administration announced on Wednesday that it had received a building permit for its reconstruction, which is part of a large-scale project to modernize the entire railway line from the center of the metropolis to Kladno; including building a branch to the airport.

Masaryk station, from where suburban trains run to other areas of Central Bohemia, is to begin to change significantly in the foreseeable future. In the spring, the Railway Administration will call for tenders for contractors – and the work itself should start this year. Their completion is expected in 2026.
At the beginning of spring, builders are getting ready to hit several central Bohemian highways
During operation, “Masaryčka” is to be rebuilt into a railway station, which will offer a form and comfort worthy of the 21st century and urban integration into the newly modified surrounding area.
A major innovation will be the construction of a platform above the tracks, which will offer access to individual platforms via escalators, lifts and stairs – there will be a total of six platforms with barrier-free access – as well as a direct transfer to metro line B. It will also offer a green oasis in the center of the metropolis, which will also ensure on the one hand, the connection between Masaryk station and the main station, and on the other hand, the connection between Florence and Hybernská street.
All of this will be useful for passengers arriving in the capital from central Bohemia by suburban trains from the west and east, and newly from Václav Havel Prague Airport, but the character of the center of the metropolis will also change. As part of the reconstruction, the number of tracks at the station itself was increased from seven to nine. Changes to all railway technologies, including traction lines, are part of the construction event.
