Support for pregnant women is provided by the Region of Central Greece
Provision of comprehensive medical care during pregnancy and childbirth to women permanently living in mountainous and inaccessible areas of the Region of Central Greece, the Region.
The Region of Central Greece in collaboration with an urban non-profit company offers full coverage of needs, as it states, to at least 50 pregnant women, or to women who wish to give birth and live in mountainous or inaccessible areas of Central Greece.
The object of the programming agreement, which was co-signed by the Regional Governor of Central Greece Fanis Spanos and the president of the municipal non-profit company, is the implementation of the project:
“Providing Integrated Medical Care during pregnancy and childbirth to women permanent residents of mountainous and inaccessible areas of the Region of Central Greece”.
The action area was defined with specific criteria, such as the birth-death balance and limited access to modern medical services, and includes 85 Local Communities from the other 8 Municipal Units:
- Kalleon, and Lidorikiou of P.E. Phocis.
- Xyniada and Sperchiada (except T.K. Sperchiada) of P.E. Fthiotidas.
- Koroneia of P.E. Boeotia.
- Marmariou, Konistron and Nileos of P.E. Evia.
The purpose of the project is to combat low birth rates in the Region of Central Greece, with targeted actions for:
- Information and awareness of the population.
- Women’s access to modern medical methods and prenatal procedures.
- Dealing with the climate of economic, but also medical insecurity.
After the signing of the programming agreement, the Regional Governor of Central Greece, Fanis Spanos, said: “We welcome 2023 with an action of substance, but also with a higher symbolism for Central Greece. We want – to put it simply – any woman and family in general who wants to have children and is facing difficulties, to have full information and absolute support to succeed!”
