Ukrainian artists who fled the war to Lithuania invite you to the performance “Moved Life”
Already this Friday, January 6, at 7 p.m. their play “Moved Life”, based on the stories of Ukrainian war refugees in Lithuania, will be performed at OKT/Vilnius City Theater Studio. Entrance is free.
“We, artists from Kharkiv currently living in Lithuania, interviewed a girl and women who also ended up in your country due to the horrors of the war in Ukraine. February 24 When Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, these people left their homes. Now they are all in Lithuania, which took care of them. You can see them on the street or in a cafe. What story do their eyes hide? These are stories about the connection with home and the fear of starting a new life, about the great responsibility for oneself and others, about the nearest and dearest people in the war, about death and its closeness…”, – the authors say about their play-performance.
This is the story of a soldier’s girlfriend, granddaughter and teacher. The stories of three specific women, along with hundreds of average women like them. In a sense, this is the story of every Ukrainian woman.
“We want to tell people about the ongoing war, to remind them about it again. We want to continuously and document people living displaced lives, in this particular time and place. We want to show a portrait of a displaced person and what lies behind it. We want to find the deep archetypes behind these personal stories, explore themes such as love, death, connection with home, survivor’s guilt,” the artists say.
The authors of “Moved Life” are a group of Ukrainian artists from Kharkiv, currently living and creating in Lithuania. These are Vlad Zernov, Daria Parasochka, Anna Serhiienko, Anastasia Shevchenko, Illia Abeliashev, Alisa Volkova and Yevhenii Borodin.
“Many of us have jobs every day. Nevertheless, we try to find time for our theatrical works. We rehearse after work, and scripts are born deep at night. Part of our team attends seminars and works on other theater projects. We also try to help our country in various ways – through donations (both personally and through the funds collected by performances), our menu and volunteer activities,” the artists say.
The show-performance “Moved Life” is already this Friday, January 6, at 7 p.m., at OKT Studio (Ašmenos St. 8, Vilnius). Admission is free, but donations will be made to funds supporting the Ukrainian struggle. Duration about 1 hour, followed by a discussion with the creators. The play-performance will be held in Ukrainian with translation into Lithuanian and English.
