Munch has got a trailer 🎨 Biopic about Edvard Munch
Munch finally gives us the first look.
2023 opens with a new Norwegian blockbuster. This time the team isn’t actually WWII. We get a biographical film about the Norwegian national treasure Edvard Munch (1863-1944); one of the world’s greatest artists of all time.
The drama, directed and written by the Hamar man Henrik M. Dahlsbakken (The Curse, Returning, Late Summer), got a trailer today. The teaser shows that this is an ambitious film which depicts four defined periods in Edvard Munch’s life via four different actors.
Alfred Ekker Strande (The curse, Ida takes responsibility) has the role of Edvard as a 21-year-old.
Mattis Herman Nyquist (Ammunition, Lifetime) as a 30-year-old.
Ola G. Furuseth (Guys on the show, Down, Made in Oslo) as a 45-year-old.
Anne Krigsvoll (yes) (ZombieLars, Lilyhammer) as an 80-year-old.
Below you can see the trailer for Munch.
Premiere January 27.
Three of the period are set during his lifetime, while the last part takes place in present-day Berlin.
Among other things, we get to see Edvard Munch fall in love for the first time – with a gifted woman – and his defeat as an artist when his first exhibition in Berlin is rejected. Later he is admitted to the nerve clinic in Copenhagen. In the last phase of his life, he fights a hard battle to save his art from the Nazis.
– The audience will not be presented with any truth, but rather our story about his life and work, says Henrik M. Dahlsbakken.
– Much can be read about Munch through preserved letters, diaries and various biographies, without this giving a true picture of a multifaceted person. We wanted to explore what drives him, what inspires him and what keeps his inner flame alive.
Munch has Anders Baasmo in the role of financier, sportsman, writer and art collector Rolf Stenersen.
Arthur Berning plays Sigbjørn Obstfelder; one of Norway’s first modernist poets.
We also get to see Nader Khademi, Ida Elise Broch and Jesper Christensen.
