Monaco goes for the Israeli nugget Oscar Gloukh
Finalist last summer of the Euro U19 despite a 3-1 defeat after extra time against England, the selection of Israel has a good emerging generation like its star Oscar Gloukh. Author of 3 goals and 2 offerings in this competition, this technical and ambidextrous attacking midfielder demonstrated his wide range of qualities. He notably offered himself the scalp of the France team. Only 18 years old, the Maccabi Tel-Aviv player has been confirming his talent for a few months. Playing 20 games for 4 goals and 6 assists, he made his selection debut on November 17 with Israel’s A team (2 caps, 1 goal).
An interesting exercise for the player who should quickly leave the local championship. Already last summer, the clubs described were numerous. We have made you part of three Ligue 1 clubs in the ranks, Olympique de Marseille, Lille and Stade Brestois 29 as well as foreign teams like Rangers, Celtic and Zenit Saint Petersburg. Precisely, the current leader of the Russian championship is still particularly fond of this nugget like another French team: AS Monaco.
Zenit and Monaco in the ranks
Recently extended for a year, until June 2025, Oscar Gloukh finds himself in a contractual situation which allows his club to be in a position of strength. In an interview for the program “5 on air” on Sporty 5 the player’s agent Shahar Greenberg gave an update on the future of his foal by evoking the previous summer transfer window and the rest of the season: “There were several offers on the table which Maccabi Tel-Aviv turned down, and in my opinion rightly so. We’re doing the work behind the scenes, we’ll have to get Oscar to the right place […] The best thing for Oscar Gloukh is to stay at Maccabi Tel-Aviv until the end of the season, and I think that’s what will happen. But in football things are dynamic and if the right offer comes in then things can change.”
As for its price, the player’s agent estimates it at around 6 million euros. The latter also mentioned the two most insistent clubs, Zenit Saint-Petersburg and AS Monaco: “it was not the right one to choose to move to Zenit in the current situation (War Russia-Ukraine editor’s note). Oscar needs to go somewhere that will give him the tools to grow and move forward. In the current situation, this is not the right place. We are in discussions with AS Monaco, let’s see how it will evaluate. With an ideal context for the development of young players and a certain reputation for the development of future great players, the Asemists have their pin to pull out in this case.
