Toulouse controls Ajaccio, Monaco secures in Brest, The Fairy saves Lorient in Angers
The European championships are more than ever revived and the World Cup is only a distant memory. Ligue 1 resumed its rights this week with now the 17th day. Before the golden poster of Sunday evening between Lens and Paris, the traditional multi L1 made its comeback with four meetings. Toulouse brought down Ajaccio (2-0), while Monaco got plenty of points against Brest (1-0). Yet led, Lorient managed to return to victory at Angers (1-2). Nantes is satisfied with the vital minimum against Auxerre (1-0).
One thing is certain, the first periods were not the most passionate. At the break, only Angers managed to open the scoring against Lorient in the wake of Abdallah Sima (10th, 1-0). Moreover, the counters remained blank on the other three French lawns in the afternoon. FC Nantes, with strikes from Ludovic Blas (15th, 43rd) and a cross from Ignatius Ganago (33rd), dominated a team from Auxerre who struggled to offer qualitative offensive animation in the first act. Same thing for AS Monaco which was playing its game against Brest with twelve strikes attempted at the break and great chances at the feet of Krépin Diatta (32nd, 36th, 43rd) and a post found by Mohamed Camara (12th). And at Stadium TFC, Farès Chaïbi thought he opened the scoring but his goal was canceled by the VAR (13th). The Violets also dominated the first half but failed to find the fault despite opportunities signed Ado Onaiwu from the head (15th), Stijn Spierings (21st) and Brecht Dejaegere (24th).
Toulouse reassuring, Lorient narrowly
No time to lose for Téfécé. Upon returning from the locker room, Rafael Ratão allowed his team to logically take the lead against Ajaccio (46th, 1-0). The passer becomes a scorer on the second but from Toulouse with an achievement by Brecht Dejaegere (62nd, 2-0). Chaïbi was denied another but later (69th). Shortly after, it was Aleksandr Golovin who logically shook the nets of Marco Bizot (54th, 1-0) for the first time in the match in order to put Monaco on the right track. On the side of La Beaujoire, Marcus Coco, who came into play, unblocked the situation (74th, 1-0), launched in depth by Ganago, to lead against Auxerre. Without being reassuring, Lorient managed to equalize thanks to a CSC from Abdallah Sima on a corner (79th, 1-1), before Enzo Le Fée put on the savior costume with a powerful strike (87th, 1-2).
In the standings, Brest (17th), Auxerre (18th) and Angers (20th) continue to sink into the red zone of the French championship. Despite the defeat, Ajaccio (16th) remains on the verge of relegation. The Canaries are doing a good job to move up to 14th place. Les Merlus climbed to 6th position. Monaco (4th) camped at the foot of the podium, while Toulouse (12th) kept their good form despite the slap received at the Vélodrome. In the middle of next week, as part of the 18th day, Nantes will host OL, Auxerre will open the doors of its Abbé-Deschamps to Toulouse. Corsica will be punctuated by the duel between Ajaccio and Reims. Lorient will try to regain points in Brittany against Monaco. Angers will go to the Parc des Princes to challenge PSG. Brest will play at home against Lille.
