New Year’s Eve celebrations in Prague are guarded by Golems on Wenceslas Square
/PHOTO/ New Year’s Eve celebrations are already in full swing. Hundreds of police officers ensure security in the center of Prague. The rescuers are strengthening the service and the rescue truck Golem, which is already standing on Wenceslas Square, is also participating.

Golem is a type of special medical module produced by KOV Velim for the Medical Ambulance Service of the capital city of Prague. The car has been available to rescuers since 2006. This module is able to intervene in the case of injuries to a larger number of people. It is able to accommodate up to 12 seriously injured in beds with oxygen connections and a number of other lightly injured. It is a Czech invention that has no age in the world.
According to rescue service spokeswoman Jana Poštová, two ambulances with paramedics are stationed on the Old Town Square. Additional people will be on standby in case of need.

Prague’s streets are also guarded by several policemen from law enforcement, foreigner, criminal, traffic services, anti-conflict team, special and regional law enforcement units. Constables are also involved in the service. Firefighters in Prague do not reinforce on New Year’s Eve, according to spokesman Martin Kavka, they handle the celebrations in standard numbers every year.

In the metropolis, many traffic restrictions and parking bans in the center apply on the last day of the year. The metro will run until 02:30 in ten-minute intervals.
