Seriously injured in a frontal impact in Maurs (Cantal), a 19-year-old driver airlifted to Toulouse
It was 3 p.m. on Friday December 30 when a Citroën C2 traveling on the RN 122 between Bagnac-sur-Célé (Lot) and Maurs collided head-on with a heavy goods vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. The 19-year-old driver deviated from her lane at the bends, under the bridge located at the place called Les Aurières. His vehicle hit the right side of the truck. The front axle of the vehicle was crushed in the impact.
Significant resources were then deployed to extricate the victim, from Figeac (Lot).
The extraction lasted several tens of minutes. With several fractures, including one on her wrist, she was taken by medical transport, described as “absolute emergency”, by the helicopter from Samu 15. The weather not being favorable to get to Clermont-Ferrand, the medical teams chose to helicopter him to the hospital center in Toulouse.
The vital prognosis was not engaged at the time of takeoff
On the gendarmerie side, a crew from the motorized brigade and a crew from the Surveillance and Intervention Platoon intervened at the site of the accident, as well as the brigades of Saint-Mamet-la-Salvetat and Maurs, and a squadron of the gendarmerie of Aurillac. The firefighters of Maurs and Bagnac-sur-Célé are also moved.
Alternating traffic was quickly put in place, but the vehicles, on either side of the N122, thwarted when towing, causing significant slowdowns in the turns. Around 4 p.m., the DIR services were busy clearing the road of residual materials, and allowing vehicles to circulate quickly, after the intervention of the tow truck.
The exact circumstances of the accident remain to be determined. The driver of the truck was not taken to hospital. At the time of takeoff, the vital prognosis of the driver of the car was not engaged.
