Makro in Deurne open for the last time today: immediately more than 200 customers (Deurne)
The Makro in Deurne opened for the very last time today (Friday). Around 6.45 am there were about thirty people queuing at the entrance. The store opened at 7:15 am, when there were about two hundred customers.
Even before half past six on Friday morning, a dozen bargain hunters with shopping carts were already waiting at the entrance of the hypermarket in Deurne. That line formed quickly: by opening hour 7.15 there were about two hundred.
The shoppers are let in in groups to keep things orderly. Yesterday the penultimate opening day was chaotic. In the evening a brawl also broke out after a discussion about some articles.
Those who stand in line in Deurne this morning hope to be able to benefit from the 90% discount on non-food items and the 40% discount on food. But actually there is hardly anything left to pick up: large parts of the store are closed, most store shelves are empty. The shoppers who were first in line are at the checkout less than ten minutes later with only a pack of toilet paper and a box of pastries.
Makro Deurne will close for good on Friday at 3 p.m. Possibly close the store a little earlier, when the very last piece of merchandise has passed the checkout.
