Florence. The Municipality launches the first statistical survey on sport
It will involve citizens, members and companies. Councilor Guccione: “It will be important for the policies of the coming years”
Analyze the needs of the territory, the strengths and weaknesses of the Florentine sports system, the future expectations of citizens in terms of motor-sports practice. But also to involve the entire citizenry, school students of all levels and the whole associative world, to start a participatory process that leads to tracing a medium-long term path for the future of city sport.
These are some of the operational phases that will lead to the drafting of a ‘municipal Sport Plan’, a road map for the definition of multi-sector policies that have their central hub in sport. The project is carried out by the Municipality of Florence in collaboration with SG Plus Ghiretti & Partners.
The opinion poll, carried out in collaboration with Istituto Piepoli, will involve carrying out 600 CATI/CAMI interviews representing the population aged 18 and over, male and female, residing and/or domiciled in the Municipality of Florence. The objective of the research is to detect the current situation with respect to the practice of sports and physical activity in Florence, as well as the types of sports practiced, the reasons for practicing and not practicing, satisfaction with the facilities and local sports offer, the needs of the population.
Carried out by the Study and Research Center of SG Plus, the statistical surveys will instead be aimed at sports clubs, sports practitioners (in sports clubs or self-employed), students of schools of all levels (thanks to the collaboration with the regional school office ), to families and will have the aim of deepening some specific issues and representing a more in-depth picture of the reality of Florentine sports in the broadest sense of the term.
Both courses have been designed in close synergy with the Municipality’s sports office and will lead to the drafting of dedicated dossiers for each individual investigation, accompanied by presentations which will be disclosed to citizens at the end of the project.
“The entire process – explained the councilor for sport Cosimo Guccione – will be preparatory to the creation of a ‘Sport Plan’ for Florence, to be based on concrete and real data relating to the current situation. An ambitious goal, which wants to be a tool at the service of the relaunch of the city’s sports and social policies, especially after the heavy period experienced due to the Covid-19 pandemic and expensive energy”. “Investing in sport as a vehicle for well-being, sociality and territorial development – he added – represents a strategic asset for the administration, which once again wants to be alongside citizens and listen to propose projects that respond to actual needs of the community”.
