Abuse scandal in the health department: the head of the agency had sex with a girl (14) | Regional
Brunswick/Hanover – It will be a quiet departure after centuries of public service: At the end of January, Dr. Gerhard W. (59), head of the Braunschweig health department, prematurely took off his hat.
Scandalous reason: The head of the authorities had met in hotels in Hanover with a 14-year-old for paid sex. Retreat after scandal in the health department!
The doctor had contacted Anna (name changed) two years ago on the “My Sugardaddy” dating platform. During the Corona lockdown in winter 2020, he met the girl three times in a suite. He prevents 200 euros for having sex with her. In the course of the investigation against Farbod N. (32), the girl’s pimp, the manager’s explosive Whatsapp conversations with Anna surfaced.
Hanover’s judiciary treated the case discreetly: at the request of the public prosecutor’s office, a district judge issued a penalty order (written judgment without a public hearing) against the doctor who is available to BILD. Result: 11,700 euros fine (90 daily rates of 130 euros each) for sexual abuse of young people. A mild sentence that stayed just below the limit of a criminal record. Supposedly, it was heard, W. was credulously satisfied with false information about the girl’s age.
Pimp Farbod N. from Hanover got off lightly in the summer of 2022 and was sentenced to one year and nine months on probation.
For the head of the office, the affair had no legal consequences because of the severe punishment. A year later, until the “Braunschweiger Zeitung” reported on the scandal in mid-December. Now the doctor (who was banned from the authorities) started to flee to the front.
City spokesman Adrian Foitzik to BILD: “At the request of the head of the health department, the management committee decided to retire at the earliest possible date at the end of January 2023.”
For the Lion City, the second official scandal this year. Just two weeks ago, Andreas B. (61), the city’s longtime head of IT, was sentenced to two years’ probation by the Braunschweig District Court for breach of trust. The official who was addicted to gambling had to calm the city treasury by around 279,000 euros with false bills.
