Toulouse FC (6-1): The notes of the superb demonstration of the Phocaeans
Olympique de Marseille perfectly resumed their national campaign against Toulouse FC (6-1). After a balanced first quarter of an hour, OM took the lead thanks to Valentin Rongier on an assist from Samuel Gigot. At the end of the first period, Rasmus Nicolaisen was the author of a rather unprecedented but against his side on a header in withdrawal completely failed.
Very dangerous as soon as they returned from the locker room, Marseille concluded the thing with a sublime but Sead Kolasinac. In the process, Dimitri Payet concluded the festival with a new class sequence in the surface. Branco Van den Boomen reduced the score late from the penalty spot. This was followed by two other goals from Cengiz Ünder from the penalty spot and Nuno Tavares.
This demonstration of the Phocaeans allows them to take third place in Ligue 1 at the expense of Rennes.
Pau Lopez was little called upon, but responded with a reflex parade at close range at the end of the first period. Only a penalty overcame the Spanish goalkeeper. A quiet but reassuring game.
Jonathan Clauss seems rested and ready to continue the races. The French international was both a force of proposals in front and dynamic in recovery. His marking lacked accuracy in a few sequences, such as when he conceded the Toulouse penalty.
The right piston served several of his teammates including Payet and Alexis Sanchez in good conditions.
Chancel Mbemba was still the eternal firefighter on duty. On the few wanderings of Clauss or Balerdi, the Congolese international managed to intervene at the right time and each time in front of agile attackers.
The Congolese rock has never been bothered by clumsy and disorganized Toulouse.
As has often been seen since the start of the season, Samuel Gigot is capable of incredible breakthroughs. The first served Rongier for the opener. The French defender never let anything go by in the face of clumsy attackers. A great performance on his hour of play on the field.
Always the little vice for Leonardo Balerdi, in order to make the right mistake or to put the right blow. The Argentinian rock was quite lax on a few markings or positions. The Marseille defender is always on the limit, but tonight it worked for him.
Sead Kolasinac is never transcendent or impactful with the ball. The Bosnian international settled for the bare minimum, but lost a few dangerous duels.
This was all before Kolasinac’s stroke of genius: unexpected control, a fake kick and a perfect cross shot. Second but in two games…Amazing.
Valentin Rongier was rewarded with a good first half with a point-blank volley. The OM vice-captain was invaluable in his use of the ball and his dexterity under pressure.
A voluntary player involved in the placement of his formation at all times. In this state of form, Rongier is precious.
Pape Gueye imposed his size on several rough interventions. The Senegalese international had some insights into transmissions in transition.
An interesting performance, but which does not provide any real reason to pass over Mattéo Guendouzi or Jordan Veretout.
Cengiz Ünder is as often underserved while his calls are often sharp. The Turkey international showed logical signs of annoyance as he was involved a lot in defensive duties.
His teammates offered him the penalty and it is only merit for a certain element.
An eternal poison that missed no control and took on a sometimes thankless role. We noted some heaviness in the sequence in the area.
An always interesting match ball at the foot and back to the goal, a little less in the surface. He is able to perfectly serve Bamba Dieng in the area on the action of the penalty.
Dimitri Payet was the author of some technical flashes to destabilize the opposing defenses. It is always he who initiates the movements, sometimes clumsily, but often intelligently. His opening for Ünder created the counter-his side.
At the start of the second half, Payet missed a but all done. He made up for it a quarter of an hour later on a magnificent sequence followed by a wrap under the bar.
