After two people were seriously injured by gunshots in downtown Hanover on Christmas Day, the police are now evaluating video footage of the crime.
A resident filmed the situation at the Steintor from an apartment. A police spokesman said on Wednesday that it was still unclear who fired the shots. The perpetrator had probably fled on foot after the events on Sunday morning. The police are also looking for him with a helicopter – in vain. The man is suspected of having shot and seriously injured two young men. Police are investigating attempted murder.
Perpetrator is said to have shot men in the legs
According to the information, the shooting early Sunday morning was preceded by a dispute in a dance hall near the Steintor. The dispute has shifted to the street, where the perpetrator is said to have shot the men aged 22 and 23 in the legs. In addition, a security employee was slightly injured – probably by flying projectile parts. A 20-year-old reports a headbutt.
Police are looking for witnesses
The alleged shooter is said to be between 30 and 40 years old and about 1.80 to 1.85 meters tall. According to police, he had short black hair, a full beard and was wearing a black vest, a black sweater and dark trousers. The cause of the dispute and other backgrounds are currently being determined. Police are asking witnesses to call the number (0511) 109 55 55 Report. After a series of knife attacks, the city of Hanover recently set up a new no-gun zone at the Steintor.
