Goodfriend: The US embassy in Budapest gathered information with the help of a leaker
In October 2014, the United States refused entry to a Hungarian civil servant who had not yet been named.
Between two worlds entitled document and a film on December 30 on HVG360, in which André Goodfriend, the former American case manager, will also speak.
In the film about the evolution of Hungarian foreign policy, Goodfriend talks about, among other things, that in 2014
“not from press reports and rumours, but from own sources, with the help of a leaker” the United States embassy in Budapest was gathering information,
which is necessary for several government officials to be banned from the USA, writes a hvg.hu.
It was recalled that in October 2014, based on Presidential Proclamation No. 7750, the United States refused the possibility of entry, because it had not yet been nominated by a Hungarian civil servant.
American authorities did not have any specific data
In December 2014, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Capital City turned to the US Department of Justice through the Attorney General’s Office with a request for legal assistance in the case known as the banning scandal. In it, they requested information on whether the American authorities have any data or evidence.
The response to the request for legal aid was finally received in August 2016. It said that “the American authorities do not have concrete data, they obtained their information through the press and the Internet, such as news agency reports and Hungarian press reports” – explained hvg.hu.
