Hanover. Change of coach in the district league 4: Stephen Kroll leaves VfL Eintracht Hannover, his previous assistant coach Alexander Busch will be his successor. “Sometimes you have to make decisions in life, this matured for me over Christmas. For many players, football no longer has the status it should have in the league. It’s no longer fun for me,” says Kroll.

Nine points behind the saving bank
In particular, the weak participation in training since the Corona break annoys Kroll, who has been a coach at the club since 2018. VfL Eintracht is in last place in the table. With only six points, the gap to the saving bank is nine points: “But my resignation has nothing to do with the standings. If I had the feeling that my players were showing full throttle and the opponents were just better – then I would be okay with it. But that’s not how it is.” As he says himself, Eintracht will probably be his last stop in the men’s division.
Successor Busch will not write off the season yet
Kroll’s greatest success with the Hanoverians was promotion to the district league in the summer of 2019, last year Eintracht held the class in the relegation round. According to Kroll, it is now a good time for a change of coach: “The new one can finish the season in peace and plan the new season in the district league.”

Successor Busch will not write off the season. “My goal is to win every game. Anything is possible with good preparation, but it will be very difficult,” says Busch, who is allowed to print out until the summer. His goal is to remain head coach beyond the season. He has been an assistant coach since the start of the season, before that he was a youth coach at Eintracht for 14 years.
