Whose salaries increased the most this year? Mainly to the boys. The regions have caught up with Prague and Brno
Programmer, network administrator and other IT jobs. Those who have devoted their working lives to the aforementioned fields have probably seen a worsening economic situation and an increase in the numbers on their payroll this year. According to current surveys, it is the employees of these professions who have improved the most this year. Often, those employing companies outside of Prague and Brno managed to match the wage level that was previously set only in the largest cities of the Czech Republic.

At the same time, the programmers didn’t even have to leave the apartment often. According to the Grafton Recruitment agency, they could work from home at a popular home office, yet their wages increased by forty percent. “Remote work has brought an interesting job opportunity to all IT specialists in the Czech Republic,” said Grafton Recruitment director Martin Malo.
He emphasized that regional employers had to adapt to salary conditions in big cities. “For a Prague wage, they can now work from the most remote village at the other end of the country,” he stated.
His agency previously reported that the salaries of IT managers and system architects in Prague range from approximately 100 to 15 thousand crowns.

The international company Gen, which covers brands such as Avast, AVG and Norton, focused on cyber security, increased employees’ salaries by five to fifteen percent this year. “We expect similar growth in 2023 as well,” its press department replied to Deník’s question.
In addition to computer scientists, the wages of accountants, welders and electricians also grew faster, usually by ten to twenty percent.
However, many workers have only to dream of an increase in income. According to a survey of visitors to the job portal Profesia.cz, in the past three months, 18 percent of respondents increased their employers’ wages, 12 percent added an inflation allowance, and another 14 percent were victims of favoritism. Forty-five percent of the respondents did not notice any improvement, according to the remaining eleven percent, the employer is still dealing with the salary increase.

Postmen should also receive more money. Currently, Czech Post employees receive an average of 29,856 crowns. While their tariff wages did not increase this year, next year the management of the state enterprise Česká pošta expects an increase. “We are negotiating with the unions and I believe we are getting close to an agreement,” said Roman Knap, CEO of the Czech Post.

The average salary in the Czech Republic in the third quarter was 39,858 crowns. Due to rising costs, the government will increase the minimum wage from January 1 next year. Thus, no one should receive a lower salary than 17,300 crowns for a month’s work.
“It is important that companies are able to pay their employees and not start laying off employees due to additional costs,” said Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Marian Jurečka from the KDU-ČSL. According to ministerial forecasts, the average wage is expected to increase by 5.3 percent next year.
