Dacia Duster: That’s why owners love the low-cost car
We Norwegians have long been at the top of Europe when it comes to buying expensive cars. We did that before electric cars came along – and it has become even stronger as more and more people choose electric cars.
While small cars and compact cars dominate the registration statistics in other European countries, we Norwegians buy many large and expensive cars, preferably fully equipped.
But there is an exception: As they have chosen to buy themselves a Dacia Duster.
Score high
Dacia is the low-cost brand for Renault. They have a very clear and distinct philosophy: namely to make simple and uncomplicated cars – at the lowest possible price. In this, Dacia also reuses existing technology and other solutions from Renault, and thus you also get a development cost.
Sales in Norway have been limited. But in any case it is not because those who have bought a Dacia are dissatisfied. Because in no way are they.
In “Eierne menner” here at Broom, many thousands of Norwegian car owners have entered an assessment of their car. In this overview we also find what is a generation of Dacia Duster. And it scores highly!
It looked dark, but now they have made 10 million cars
– Very happy with the Duster
The combined grade is a whopping 9.7/10. Based on the comments that have been submitted, we see that the owners have made a conscious choice by choosing the Duster – and that they have not been disappointed.
For example, this is what Heidi says about her car:
Have become very happy with my Duster. Reliable, reasonable car, which is very good to drive.
Simon is on his second Duster. He is also very satisfied:
This is my Dacia Duster number for. 2019 model. Very satisfied with the first one (drove 179,000 kilometers), which is why I also chose Dacia again. Reliable car. Absolutely no mistakes. Has driven 55,000 kilometers.

Go on a camping holiday
An owner who calls himself Osprey uses his car to tow a caravan, among other things. This is also something Duster clearly manages bra:
Just managed to drive in the Duster before we went on holiday with a caravan down to Denmark and Germany, a task the best by far. Test drove the first generation with diesel before ordering Duster 2 with petrol, and I don’t regret it. With the summer tires that the car came with, there is less wear in the coupe regardless of speed compared to my previous car (Honda CR-V).
Yes, the car is probably simple, but has pretty much everything I need and want. So far I am very happy and feel incredibly comfortable behind the wheel of the Duster. With a five-year warranty, I expect to avoid so many expenses in addition to normal maintenance and service anyway 🙂
We rarely talk about Dacia here – in Norway
Prices have increased
The second generation Duster came on the market in 2018. The starting price was DKK 190,000. With 4×4 it started at DKK 258,000.
– It is almost startlingly cheap compared to the competitors. The car is relatively compact, but the luggage compartment of 411 liters should be enough for families who do not need too much space, we wrote when we tested it for the first time.
Since then, prices have increased considerably. Well, you get the petrol version with front-wheel drive from DKK 315,000, while diesel and 4×4 come at DKK 355,000. A lot up – but still favorable compared to the vast majority of competitors.

Still petrol and diesel
By the way, Dacia has declared that they plan to sell petrol and diesel cars in Europe right up to 2035. That is considerably longer than most other car manufacturers.
Dacia expects that it will continue to be a customer who until then wants something other than an electric car. Here they must also supplement Renault’s investment, which is now turning more and more towards electric cars. By having Dacia as a fossil alternative, the group has in many ways fully protected itself against the changes that may come.
