Faced with rising energy prices, the government has set up a wood energy check for French people who heat with wood. The aid comes into force on Tuesday and can already be requested by the Lyonnais.
Kick-off of applications for the wood energy voucher. After the exceptional special fuel aid provided on November 7, the government has set up a wood energy check for some 2.6 million eligible French people. This aid comes into effect on Tuesday, December 27 and must be requested before April 30, 2023. Households will be able to apply on the government website, presenting “a nominative invoice proving a purchase of wood for a minimum amount of 50 euros (or a certificate for households with collective heating)”, said the Ministry of the Economy on Friday, December 23. Checks will be sent from mid-February.
50 to 200 euros of aid
Households whose reference taxable income does not exceed 27,500 euros per year are eligible. According to the State, 70% of households heating with wood are concerned by this aid. The amount of the wood energy check, worth 50 to 200 euros, varies according to the reference tax income. It will be between 100 and 200 euros for French people whose tax income is less than 14,400 euros. For those whose income is between 14,400 and 27,500, the aid paid will then be 50 to 100 euros. The amount of the check also depends on the fuel used. Households that heat with wood pellets can benefit from aid of up to 200 euros – depending on tax income – due to rising prices on pellets.
The government points out that this aid is in addition to the energy check – from 100 to 200 euros – for the 12 million households concerned, the automatic dispatch of which will begin at the end of the month, over a period of eight weeks.
