Russia may send a second ship to rescue the ISS crew due to a Soyuz leak.
In Russia, a plan was being developed to rescue the crew of the ISS, which was in danger due to the situation with the release from the cooling system on board the Soyuz MS-22. It is proposed to send an empty spacecraft that will pick up the astronauts, although an attempt to return them in a closed capsule is not ruled out.
At the moment, a decision has not yet been made, representatives of Roskosmos and NASA said they are continuing to investigate what was discovered. The amount of losses is also estimated, said Sergei Krikalev, head of the manned space flight program.
If the thermal analysis of the MS-22 cabin shows its unsuitability, then it is planned to use a new ship. the beginning of the offensive is expected in mid-March, but its probability may be at the end of February.
For this reason, the damage remains unclear. It doesn’t appear to have caused the Geminid meteor shower particles, because the hull is damaged on the other side. That being said, more research is needed to determine if this was a mass detection of micrometeoroids, man-made debris in orbit, or a hardware failure.
The head of Roskosmos, Yuri Borisov, said that there is no danger to the astronauts, the temperature on board does not exceed 30 degrees and is stable. Previously, he already informedthat there is no pawn, although the situation is rather unpleasant.
