The immigration agency Migri has announced plans to introduce an “accelerated” residence permit process for those moving to Finland for management positions.

Kaj SwanljungThe head of Migr’s Permit and Citizenship Unit told Yle that less than 40 people apply for a residence permit each year for management positions.
This means that the introduction of the accelerated process is unlikely to have a significant impact on the agency’s operations, but it may encourage Finnish companies to recruit managers from abroad.
“For jobs that start quickly, for example on a project-by-project basis, the speed of the application process can be a decisive factor,” Swanljung said.
Migr the introduction of an accelerated permit process for highly qualified employees and growth entrepreneurs and their families during the summer and this is now extended to managers as well.
“When evaluating the quality of the supervisor’s role, the client may be asked to provide information about, for example, the employment contract, job description, salary, company size and operations,” explained Swanljung.
The process requires that the applicant submit the application electronically and pay the processing fee in advance. They can also be required to register at the nearest Finnish diplomatic mission or an external service provider to be identified within a certain period of time.
Swanljung told Yle that the accelerated track could be expanded to include other groups in the future.
Currently, Migri aims to process all job applications within 30 days.
