FSV Frankfurt has only been able to top its current 30 points from 20 games once in the past four seasons: In the 2020/21 season, after 20 games, there was a surprising 2nd place and 40 points.
The assessment is all the more positive when you consider the upheaval in Frankfurt. Only a handful of players remained in the summer, and with Tim Görner (26) the youngest coach in the league took over the post on the sidelines – with success, as the sporting director Thomas Brendel sums up: “We are very satisfied with the 30 . Team and coach have found each other. You can see on the pitch that it fits.”
On the defensive, Noah Awassi and Noel Knothe have found an experienced central defender duo, while Omer Hanin consistently delivers good performances in goal after initial difficulties at the start of the season. In midfield, Leon Müller is indispensable as a clearer in front of the defense and on the offensive, the attack line around Jihad Boutakhrit and the top scorer in the league, Cas Peters (13 goals), knows how to convince. Not to forget the many young players who have not yet exhausted their potential. “We have a young team with potential to develop and we expect even more from them in the future,” says Brendel, who is looking up the table accordingly.
Winter transfers in planning
Staff should still do something in winter. Especially in the left-back position, where two players, Robin Williams and Miguel Costa, are out for a long time. In addition, they want to “adjust something in one or the other position”.
The sporting director goes into more detail when planning the preparations: FSV will return to the field on January 16th, friendlies are planned against the U21s from Eintracht Frankfurt and regional league team Fortuna Köln, among others. There is also the Hessen Cup quarterfinals against the Hessen League side Eintracht Stadtallendorf on February 18th.
