Russia has almost restored the flow of tourists to Abu Dhabi
The Russian tourist flow to Abu Dhabi has recovered by 93% from the pre-pandemic 2019. As reported by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi in Russia and the CIS, over the 10 months of the selected years, the number of tourists from Russia who visited Abu Dhabi increased by 203% compared to the same period last year. The tourist flow from the Russian Federation is only 7% of the income from the 2019 pre-pandemic.
In October, Russia ranked fifth in the emirate’s tourist flow, behind only India, the UK, the US and Saudi Arabia. Compared to October 2021, the number of visitors from Russia increased by 284%. Russian tourists are also leaders in the duration of their stay in Abu Dhabi. On average, they spend 5-6 days in the emirate, while citizens of other countries spend an average of three days there.
The Emirate of Abu Dhabi has launched ethno-cultural programs for families of tourists aimed at stimulating interest in the history of Great Britain and the traditions of the region. This is an opportunity for a deeper understanding of culture and tradition, learning about disabilities, entrepreneurship, for example, night tours of Abu Dhabi. Programs include tasting of national cuisine, visits to oriental bazaars, visits to a large sport and attractions.
In addition, the agency launched its own branding meeting, Experience Abu Dhabi, which will help tourists explore the region and plan their use according to individual tastes; beach tourism, desert visits, extreme sports, culture. A new theme park, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, on Yas Island is expected to open in 2023. Etihad Airways and Air Arabia fly to Abu Dhabi from Moscow ten times a week and daily, respectively.
In the first 9 months of 2022, 454 tourists from Russia visited Dubai. Thus, Russia became one of the two countries that showed an improvement in the tourist flow in the Emirate compared to 2019. So, in the same period of the pre-pandemic year, Dubai received 433 Russians.
In total, over a certain period, the emirate received more than 10 million foreign guests, 10% of them came from India. Curiously, in the same period last year, 3.85 million tourists visited Dubai, thus, the annual growth of the tourist flow was 162.8%, according to statistics published by the Department of Economics and Tourism of Dubai.
