Greek ultras in Brno: football atmosphere, whistling when serving and the end with the police
Ten minutes before the start of Wednesday’s volleyball match of the European CEV Cup, they were neither seen nor heard from. After that, approximately fifty Greek fans invaded the auditorium of the Brno hall in Vodová street and made the rematch between Králový Pole and PAOK Soluň special.

It was a fight not only on the field, but also in the corridors. The home fans tirelessly pushed the Královopolanka to progress, the Greek fans dressed almost all in black, but they did not let them be embarrassed. Immediately after their arrival in the auditorium, they hung flags on their part of the stands, pulled out a giant banner with an inscription in Greek and sang their learned chants in chorus.
However, the women of Královo Polanka did not succumb to the stormy environment, more reminiscent of a football match, on the contrary, they performed perhaps the best performance of the season and advanced to the sets after a 3:1 win. Meanwhile, a passionate group of away supporters tried to make it as uncomfortable as possible for them. Even with loud whistles during important submissions by the Brno team, Erika Nezhody’s charges did not allow themselves to be distracted from their concentration. Perhaps also because they experienced an even more hostile atmosphere in Greece during the first match.

At some moments it looked as if the Greek ultras didn’t even know what the exact state of the game was. Despite the unfavorably developing play, they sang hymn after hymn, some of them climbing on seats and railings by the playground. Perhaps that is also why the police arrived at the end of the match and escorted the Greeks out of the hall after the final point. And KP can already look forward to whose supporters will arrive in the next round after progressing.
