Zurich: Car tipped over on Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse – traffic chaos resolved
Anyone who wanted to buy their last Christmas presents on the Bahnhofstrasse on Tuesday afternoon was probably amazed: near the “Kantonalbank” tram station there was an overturned car with Zurich license plates. According to several news scouts, the police, fire brigade and emergency services were on site. The Zurich city police confirmed an operation. According to a spokesman, it was a self-accident. The driver was slightly injured. The route between Bürkliplatz and Paradeplatz was closed to trams in both directions for hours.
It was only after 7 p.m. that the Zurich Transport Association announced that lines 2, 8, 9 and 11 could operate normally again.
Saini R. witnessed the scene. She was on the tram at around 4:20 p.m. when it stopped and the guests had to get off. “It was only then that I saw the accident. The person at the wheel was still in the overturned car. She was approachable.” The emergency services arrived shortly thereafter. They cordoned off the scene of the accident.
