In Frankfurt, a man is currently being sought who is said to have shot people on the open street in Nuremberg and seriously injured another. The police are looking for a helicopter in the Riederwald, among other places.
Mith a larger police presence, officials searched for a suspected murderer in the Riederwald district on Monday evening Nuremberg shot one person and also seriously injured another by gunshots. Previously, numerous residents had reported, among other things via the social networks, that a helicopter was flying over the district. The police initially only said that they were looking for “one person”. As a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office in Nuremberg-Fürth announced, the police operation was related to a homicide at the end of October in the south of Nuremberg.
The 28-year-old Mert Fahri Akin, against whom an arrest warrant is now publicly sought, is urgently accused. There had been indications that the accused was now in Frankfurt. Officials then searched three objects on Monday evening, including a hut in a garden colony. However, the accused did not stay there, the spokeswoman continued. It is unclear whether he found other accommodation in Frankfurt.
The spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office gave no further details about the background to the crime and referred to extensive investigations that were currently pending. Immediately after the crime, the Nuremberg police set up a special commission called “Soko Graben” with 40 officers. In addition to witnesses who can provide information about what happened on October 24 in the south of Nuremberg, the police are still looking for people who can provide information about the whereabouts of Mert Fahri Akin. For reasons of investigation tactics, the spokeswoman does not provide any information on the connections he has to Frankfurt.
