Iltalehti has told about the first participants who were rumored to participate in Finland’s Eurovision 2023 selection. Iltalehti traditionally reports on the participants in the UMK 2023 event before their official announcement and in previous years has reported the participants correctly.
According to the magazine, three names have been announced for the Finnish selection from different sources. Robin Packalen, Portion Boys and Lxandra compete for the right to represent Finland in Liverpool.
Robin Packalen, also known as Robin, has been active since the age of 10 and has released four number one albums in Finland, the last time he had a number one single in 2019. Portion Boys is a pop dance band that has been performing since 2010 and in 2010. In 2021, there was a number one single with “Vauhti kiittyu” . Lxandra is a Finnish-Swedish singer-songwriter and former blogger who released her first album in 2021.
The seven actors participating in UMK 2023 will be announced on January 11. Competing songs will be released on separate days from the 12th to the 20th. January. The final of UMK 2023 will be held on February 25 at Logomo in Turku. Logomo is hosting UMK for the second year in a row and the third time as a whole.

Finland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 1961, they debuted alongside Spain and Yugoslavia. Finland has finished last in the competition 10 times and received “zero points” three times. Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest only in 2006. Lordi represented the country in Athens with the song “Hard Rock Hallelujah”, which scored 292 points, which was a record at the time.
