Russia and China to hold exercises in the East China Sea
Russia and China will hold naval exercises in the East China Sea with practical rocket and artillery guns. The maneuvers called “Naval Interaction-2022” will be held from December 21 to 27, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
A detachment of warships of the Pacific Fleet has already left Vladivostok to participate in the exercises. From the Russian side, the cruiser Varyag, the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, the corvettes Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov and Perfect are involved. On the Chinese side, two destroyers and a patrol ship, an integrated supply ship and a diesel submarine will be involved.
According to the Ministry of Defense, during the active part of the research, it is also planned to work out the use of anti-submarine actions with the practical use of weapons. The purpose of the maneuvers is to strengthen naval cooperation between Russia and China, as well as “maintain peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region,” Interfax reports, citing a press release from the Ministry of Defense.
In 2023, joint exercises of the armed forces of the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be held in the Chelyabinsk region. The maneuvers, dubbed “Peace Mission”, are scheduled for August. India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, recreation, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan will take part in them outside the Russian Federation and China.
