Prague public transport will operate according to limited timetables from Christmas until February 12
The exception will be New Year’s Eve, when subway trains and selected day buses will run until 02:30 and night trams will be reinforced. Filip Drápal, spokesman for the Ropid organization, which plans Prague public transport, told ČTK today. School buses will stop running on December 23.
On Christmas Day, buses and trams will follow the Saturday timetable until 18:00, after which they will switch to night service. The metro will run until midnight, but after 18:00 in extended twenty-minute intervals. Commuter trains will stop running between 17:00 and 20:00, after which a limited service will be maintained until approximately 22:00 at regular intervals on selected lines.
On Christmas Day and Boxing Day, public transport services will run according to Sunday timetables with some restrictions, for example lines 58, 143 and 187 will not run. It will be the same on New Year’s Day. From Tuesday, December 27 to 30 and January 2, the timetables will be the same as on a working day during the holidays, but trams number 4 and 21 and bus number 187 will not run.
On New Year’s Eve, services will run during the day according to Saturday timetables, night traffic will be strengthened. The metro will run at a uniform interval of ten minutes on all three lines until approximately 02:30. Enhanced night tram service will start at 22:00 and last until 07:00 the next day, cars will run at 15-minute intervals until 03:30 and then every 20 minutes until 07:00.
In the case of buses, 45 selected daily routes will remain in service after 22:00 on New Year’s Eve, until 02:00 to 02:30. After that, selected night buses will run until 07:00. Suburban trains will run according to timetables until around 00:00, then with the cancellation of line S49 at regular intervals until 22:00.
Due to the spring holidays in Prague, public transport will be restricted until Sunday 12 February, services will run in half-holiday mode, when, among other things, intervals are extended or some services are limited.
