Førde, Education | Siv Therese actually had to move home to Førde when she finished her education. It didn’t happen
– I thrive in Copenhagen, so I’ve only become a resident, says Siv Therese Bjørkedal (45).
She moved from Førde to Copenhagen 25 years ago to study occupational therapy.
It was by chance that he applied to the studio.
– I didn’t quite know what it was before I started studying, she admits.
The plan was to move home to Førde when she finished her education, but it didn’t work out that way. Bjørkedal was offered a job in psychiatry from one of the internships she had during her training.
She accepted the offer.
Sensational day
It is clear that she has thrived in her job as an occupational therapist. She took her master’s degree in 2014, and at the beginning of December she defended her doctoral thesis.
– Disputeringa is a defense of the research assignment that I delivered a few months ago, explains ho.
The assignment is a collection of research articles that have been published through the project. They are about having full activity in the course of an illness. It can be anything from having something to stand up for, to doing something that you see as meaningful and engaging, for example leisure activities, school and education.
– It’s about the everyday things we take for granted when we’re fresh, she says.
Bjørkedal says that the day of the disputeringa was full of nerves and excitement, but that leta was great when it was all over.
Must make the weekday possible
As an occupational therapist, he works with people who are in an illness situation, against intermediate or chronic conditions. Occupational therapists look at the connection between health, well-being and everyday life.
Her job is to create opportunities for people to make everyday life possible.
Going forward, Bjørkedal will continue with new research projects for the Psychiatric Center in Copenhagen. There is ho supervised in the research seed league.
But first he has to take a well-deserved Christmas holiday. He must use it with the extended family.
– We usually spend a quarter of the year with the family in Korssundet and in Copenhagen. This year we will celebrate with the family in Denmark, concludes ho.
