Migrants missing after boat accident off Calais, rescue operations underway
Two migrants disappeared after an incident on their makeshift embarkation in the Channel on the night of Tuesday December 13 to Wednesday December 14, off Calais. The accident took place in English waters around 3am. According to our information, 38 migrants were brought back to Dover around 6 a.m. and two disappeared.
Relief operation in progress
A patrol boat and a French helicopter are still intervening, this Wednesday morning, in support of British relief.
A fishing vessel in the area assisted in the rescue. The Grande-Synthe branch of the Utopia 56 association reportedly received a distress call at 2:57 a.m., and claims to have warned the coast guards.
