Debrecen specialists are working to ensure that the workplace is not a source of anxiety
Debrecen – The goal of the P2030 program is to make a company’s culture human-centered, not just in name. This depends on both the manager and the employees.
Human corporate culture – sounds good, but what percentage of companies put emphasis on providing their employees with a stress-free atmosphere, training opportunities and other benefits? The P2030 executive forum was launched to help Debrecen leaders and decision-makers stop the ever-increasing turnover and increase loyalty in the midst of economic challenges. The goal is for local small and medium-sized businesses to come out of the crisis situation stronger. The two masterminds, Levente Nagy, head of NI HR, and Péter Kanizsár, operational head of NI regional HR, were guests of Debrecen Televízíó’s Evening Close Up program.
Levente Nagy revealed that their idea originated from the fact that they saw that a lot of companies have this skill for a people-oriented corporate culture, but it is not certain that the company managers – who are the target audience of this program – know exactly what needs to be done for this.
– There are also good examples, but we have also heard from workers that the work is very good, but they do not feel good at work because of their manager or colleagues. It’s roughly 50-50 percent, there are many good examples, but there are also negative experiences – Levente Nagy said.
Péter Kanizsár talks about the fact that Debrecen is going through great changes, but the economic-structural and labor market transformation can only be realized if there is a sufficient number of motivated people who are happy to come to work.
He pointed out that there are recurring themes among the leaders, energy was one of the buzzwords and one of the most frequently mentioned areas at the last executive forum.
Levente Nagy explained,
managers often focus on the professional part, but being a manager is a profession in itself, and you need to improve in this as well.
P2030 is also about what a good leader is.
“It is very important how we treat our colleagues, in what style we speak to them.” Many people who become leaders and start this kind of training are confronted with how much it takes to be a good leader – Levente Nagy.
Levente Nagy drew attention to the fact that a good leader works for his colleagues and the team, rather than the team working for the leader. He emphasized: corporate culture can be built on mutual respect and trust. The goal of P2030 is to have as many businesses in Debrecen as possible, where this can be felt on a daily basis, he said.
– Building a corporate culture is not only the job of the manager, but also of the employees, so they are all responsible. It doesn’t work like one employee gets the company culture and people-centeredness ready in hand, it’s more about how we interact with each other, how we give and receive feedback. Let’s create this together. Of course, the leader has a huge responsibility in this – emphasized Péter Kanizsár. He pointed out
according to a global research, more than 40 percent of people are stressed and worried about their workplace. This affects his work, his performance and the success of the company, but most importantly, it also affects the employee as a person.
Levente Nagy added that it is not only a moral and ethical question whether someone deals with this as a manager, businesses that treat their employees with a good attitude are more successful.
The experts also pointed out that in Hungary, higher salaries are the most attractive aspect for employees, but the second aspect is how someone feels at work.
Péter Kanizsár said that they experienced the program as a success and the feedback showed the same.
– This program took place in the first half of 2022, which consisted of six modules, and could be realized in collaboration with EDC Debrecen and the city administration. We asked for feedback at the end of each module, which we shared with the participants at the beginning of the next module. Overall, they were 96 percent satisfied, he said.
The program was successfully completed by 14 representatives of 11 companies, they had to fulfill different conditions. The second session will start in February, so those who missed the first one can join it.
