The Czechia sings carols: 113 places sang in and around Prague

Singing took place in 113 places in the metropolis and the Central Bohemian region, and in some of them over a hundred singers gathered. In Prague, it was sung, for example, at the castle in Čakovice by the Christmas tree or in front of the Knoflík cafe in Prosek. Chelčické Primary School in Prague 3 also joined in. In Jesenice, the Jesenka Mixed Choir also participated and sang at the town hall, and in Unhoště the singers gathered at the Slunce cafe. More modestly, carols were heard, for example, in the Masna pub in Vrané nad Vltavou. Many readers of the Journal participate directly in their homes.

“I like this meeting of people that doesn’t even have a hint of political overtones. Mainly families with children come here, and all of that will completely put you in the pre-Christmas Advent mood,” said the deputy director of the Čáslav ZUŠ, Filip Jerie, who accompanies the singing of carols on the piano.

It is publicly sung after two years of anti-covid measures. “We sang with our parents at home, we sent each other photos,” said Hana Pešková, director of the Dobřichov Kindergarten in Kolínsk. On Wednesday evening, the entire kindergarten finally gathered, which is 22 children, plus parents and other visitors from the village.
For this year’s event, Czechia Sings Carols, six Christmas songs were chosen by the readers of the Daily in a vote – Nesem vam noviny, Narodil se Christus Pán, Pójdem toge to Betlém, Pašli ovce valáši, How beautiful you are, innocent girl, and Christmas, Christmas is coming.
