Eurowings opens new base in Austria

Sugar Mizzy December 7, 2022

The Lufthansa subsidiary is also expected to settle in the southern Austrian state of Styria.

With the stationing of one of their aircraft at the airport in Graz, the capital of Styria will become the new Eurowings base. In addition, Eurowings is including twelve new holiday and city destinations from Graz in its 2023 summer flight schedule, how to die airline self reports.

Eleventh Eurowings base

Eurowings plant to station one aircraft from their fleet at Graz Airport. This makes the capital of Styria the eleventh Eurowings base and thus also part of the growth course of the leading value carrier.

With an expansion of the range of attractive direct flight destinations in summer 2023, Eurowings would then like to further expand its presence at Graz Airport. With new destinations like Chania on CreteLarnaca in Cyprus, Hurghada in Egyptas well as Karpathos, Corfu, Kos and Rhodes in Greece popular holiday destinations are on the agenda. In addition, work is also being done on expanding capacity to Mallorca.

Eurowings starts Dusseldorf

However, Eurowings is not only planning to expand the offer to the south, but also to increase the range of city connections to Germany. In the 2023 summer timetable, the Lufthansa subsidiary will then also start connections between the capital of Styria and Berlin or Hamburg. The connections to Düsseldorf and Stuttgart are currently being served, so that travelers will have the opportunity to choose from up to 25 weekly frequencies from German city destinations. Business areas in particular benefit from this, as they can now arrange their trips flexibly.

The Eurowings offer for the summer can be booked until Monday, December 19th.

We are very pleased that we will be offering a wide range of attractive destinations from Graz next summer, which are at the top of many holidaymakers’ wish lists. At the same time, we are connecting Styria more strongly than before with the most important German metropolitan areas. Both holidaymakers and business travelers benefit from our value concept, which addresses the core needs of today’s air travelers with flexibility, comfort and sustainability. Our expansion is also a strong commitment to Graz as an air traffic location and the entire region.

Jens Bischof, Eurowings boss

Wolfgang Grimus and Jürgen Loeschnig, Managing Directors of Graz Airport, are also extremely pleased with the latest developments. They are certain that “Styria as a tourist and business location will benefit (from this)” and that Eurowings will become one of their stronger partners with the program expansion. Holding Graz CEO Wolfgang Malik, the owner representative, shares this opinion: “I am confident that Graz will soon be back on the “high flights” of the popular “airport of short distances” before Corona”.

Conclusion on the new Eurowings base

The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings is stationing one of its aircraft at Graz Airport. This will make the capital of Styria the new and eleventh Eurowings base. On top of that, Eurowings will also expand its range of flights from there and will be offering great new holiday destinations from summer 2023, as well as new destinations in Germany. That should probably please the Austrians.
