Update, 5:04 p.m.: As the city of Cologne explained in a statement around 5 p.m., the city high school and the Max Planck secondary school used as a contact point evacuated independently. “So far, around 50 people have been in the contact point in the gym of the Max Planck secondary school. More than 800 people over the age of 65 are affected by the evacuation. So far, the operations management of the public order office has received reports of 29 required ambulance transports for people with walking disabilities or sick people, including two corona cases,” the city continued.
A retirement home on Königsberger Straße is also affected. A group leader of the security service, who has the appropriate driver’s license, will transport almost 100 residents from the danger area in a seated bus. The operations management asks motorized private transport to drive around the danger area so as not to delay the evacuations.
