Separate waste collection: Siena is at 57%, in the province Radicofani is at the top and exceeds 83%
Separate waste collection in Siena is growing and, for the first time, it exceeds 50%, going from 49.93% to 57.82% . The data refer to the year 2021 and were published by the regional resource recovery agency.
In the South Ato area, separate waste collection is equal to 53.33%, an increase of over three percentage points compared to 2020. The basin in which Sei Toscana performs its services “is once again the area that improves the most in the region, with greater growth compared to the other two optimal Tuscan territorial ambitions which in any case record a better general performance” they reveal from the single waste manager.
Satisfied with the president of Sei Toscana Alessandro Fabbrini who, however, welcomed how “there is still a lot to do to recover the historical gap with the other two regional Atos”. The data, he adds, “confirm the constant growth trend for our area, increasing for the seventh consecutive year. An increase, in percentage terms, of almost fifteen points in the last five years, which has allowed us to get close to 55%. However, it is necessary to focus not only and not so much on quantity, but on quality -he explains-. Only a good differentiated collection, a quality differentiated collection, paves the way for recycling, and it is precisely the maximum possible recycling of materials that we must aim for. In this way, waste sorting can really contribute to saving raw materials and energy, reducing polluting emissions and thus protecting the environment”.
In the South Ato there are twenty-nine Municipalities over 65% of separate waste and the gold medal goes to Radicofani which reaches 83.84%, with an increase of 31.35% compared to 2020.
The Sienese territory is confirmed as the most virtuous in the area with 15 Municipalities that exceed the threshold of 65%: Asciano (69.35%), Castelnuovo Berardenga (70.64%), Chianciano Terme (77.05%), Chiusi ( 79.29%), Monteriggioni (67.77%), Monteroni d’Arbia (75.42%), Monticiano (71.30%), Murlo (68.84%), Radicofani (83.84%), Rapolano Terme (69.72%), San Casciano dei Bagni (68.70%), Sarteano (70.08%), Sinalunga (70.70%), Sovicille (69.45%) and Torrita di Siena (75.75 %). Special mention also for Castelnuovo Berardenga which records the most significant increase in the entire area with a growth of over 35 percentage points compared to 2020
