FC Zurich U21 dismantled Wil – Thun and Sion also win
NLB Women – Day 10
The young stars of FC Zurich cannot be kept for FC Wil. Sydney Scissor Body and Leela Egli, the first two are 15 years old and have already had assignments in the WSL, show their progress impressively. With a score of 1:9, the young women from Zurich finished off the first pursuer of the top trio – FC Wil. The other top teams also win their games. FC Thun Berner-Oberland wins 3-5 in Biel and FC Sion wins against FC Schlieren 2-1. This means that the gap between third and fourth place has grown to ten points before the winter break. In the basement duel between Solothurn and FC Lugano, the women from Solothurn can book their second win of the season. FC Lugano remains the only team that has to celebrate Christmas without a win of the season. The game between Küssnacht and Oerlikon has been brought forward and both teams are already on their well-deserved break.
FC Schlieren persistent in Valais – but ultimately without a point
The women from FC Schlieren in Valais are not lucky. Ugne Lazdauskaite’s opening goal – the woman from Lithuania scored for the seventh time in eight games – was briefly equalized by Nina Suter before the break. Charlène Arlettaz scored the winning goal in the 73rd minute. With the victory, FC Sion stays close to FC Zurich and celebrates a great preliminary round with eight wins and only one draw (FC Biel) and one defeat (FC Zurich U21). The Valais women are also the only team from the NLB to overwinter in the cup. With two defeats in the last two games, FC Schlieren missed the chance to refine their preliminary round and remains stuck in the middle of the table.
FC Zürich doesn’t give FC Wil the slightest chance
FC Zurich competes in Eastern Switzerland with the Schertenleib Sisters and Leela Egli. Too much firepower for the home team. Lilian Schertenleib scores four times on Saturday, taking her season total to 13 goals in just 8 games. All of the goals were scored by the 18-year-old in the last six rounds. Incredible numbers. Also impressive are the numbers of the even younger Schertenleib sister. Sydney also scores twice, keeping on six goals in five games. The future for the young Sydney and also Leela Egli, who also scored three goals at the Schützenfest elements, lies in the WSL. In the NLB, the young players have nothing more to prove.
FC Biel-Bienne without a chance against Thun Bernese Oberland
After a good hour, the fair in Biel is finished. Jolanda Thomann scored in the 62nd minute to make it 4-0 and explained Ravaioli’s 4-1 in the 68th minute, immediately making it 5-1. Thus, Thomann put together the second double pack in a row and the third this season. If she hits, then always twice. FC Biel doesn’t give up and shortens to 3:5 – which is only cosmetic for the result.
FC Solothurn with second win of the season
FC Solothurn has the upper hand in the basement banger. Selin Wegmann scored the golden goal for a 0:1 victory after just 17 minutes. Both teams are not accurate in the preliminary round – both together scored as many goals in the preliminary round as Lilian Schertenleib, the league top scorer, in eight games alone. FC Lugano is unable to react and remains stuck at the bottom of the table with their eighth defeat and has to let their direct opponent pull away. Thus, the point difference has already grown to six points and the Ticino remain the only team that could not decide a game in their favor in the preliminary round.
