Despite Toulon’s interest for next season, Ethan Dumortier has agreed to LOU leaders to extend his contract, according to RMC Sport.
The LOU does not intend to see its workforce diminish next season. Having proclaimed his desire to leave at the end of the season, even going so far as to activate the exit clause included in his contract, Baptiste Couilloud finally decided to backtrack and reject an offer from Stade Français Paris. After this first sign sent to the supporters of the Rhone club, the leaders of the LOU will soon confirm a new pledge of seriousness for the years to come. Indeed, while his performances caught the eye of the staff of the XV of France to the point of integrating him into the group of 42 players who prepared the meetings of the Autumn Tour, Ethan Dumortier should not away from the Matmut Stadium in Gerland despite the upcoming end of his contract with Lyon and the unfeigned interest from Toulon, where the former LOU coach Pierre Mignoni now works.
Dumortier ready to extend for three years
Indeed, according to information from RMC Sports, Ethan Dumortier ruled out any departure for La Rade at the end of the season and his contract. The winger, member of the France under-20 team, world champion in 2019, author of seven tries during his nine outings with his club this season, gave his leaders his approval for a contract extension relating to the next three seasons, i.e. until June 2026. Everything would already be in place to formalize this new contract and the only missing element is the signature of the parties concerned on the documents. While Josua Tuisova has chosen to leave the Lyon region to join Racing 92 next summer, the bosses of LOU are on the verge of achieving two big blows by keeping both Baptiste Couilloud and Ethan Dumortier for the seasons to come.
