The report of the Dorotheum auction in Vienna
Italian artists shone at the Dorotheum Modern and Contemporary Art Auctions in Vienna between 29 November and 1 December. And for Carla Accardi the award record has been updated
In the splendid setting of the historic Palais Dorotheum, located in the central Dorotheergasse in Vienna, the sessions of modern and contemporary art of the Austrian auction house Dorotheum were held. In the catalogues, full of valuable works, the presence of “our home” artists was strongly felt, who were able to conquer the Austrian market square, enjoying great success. THE DOROTHEUM MODERN ART AUCTION
The Dorotheum Modern Art auction is open with an important group of works by Alfonso Walde, an Austrian painter much appreciated for his snowy landscapes of the suggestive promontories of Tyrol. All of the paintings changed hands realizing more than double the high estimate, especially Almen und Gletscher (1932) from a starting €220,000 it reached €565,000. Also in the Austrian orbit, the drawing dated 1915 by Egon Schiele has found a new place Peasant woman with handkerchief, standing, for over € 200,000. The painting depicting the interior of a hotel room by Tamara de Lempickahotel room (1951) received various offers up to the final one of € 278,000, more than three times the starting estimate.
ITALIANS AT THE MODERN ART AUCTION IN VIENNA
As for the Italians, a lot of interest has been received Venice, Island of San Giorgio (1965) by Giorgio De Chirico which from a low estimate of €120,000 reached a hammer price of €215,500, commissions included, as noted by a historical Still life (1952) by Giulio Turcato, which changed hands for over forty thousand euros, far from the low estimate. A lot of Italy and weight was also seen in the contemporary art catalog collected by the Dorotheum auction house. OTHER RESULTS FROM THE VIENNESE AUCTIONS
In addition to the Italian front, which undoubtedly prevailed during the evening, there were significant sales for the German avant-garde, especially represented by a large group of works by Hans Hartungall awarded beyond the high estimate, with T 1964 – E 40 (1964) in particular which reached €262,268. Also great feedback for KKK pumpkin (2002) by Yayoi Kusama which is close to half a million euros, while on the Austrian side Arnulf Rainer, Hermann Nitsch And Gunther Brus they had results beyond the high estimate.
