Is Lithuania a fairytale city? The illuminated Christmas tree in Jonava is not alone in welcoming the holidays
Jonava’s Christmas tree does not welcome the holidays alone this year – it is surrounded by four smaller trees. The entire Christmas ensemble is combined with a cloak of LED lights and flashing garlands. Christmas trees are decorated with golden shiny and matte toys, golden rhombuses.
The Christmas tree was lit by the golden character Žibinčius and the mayor of the municipality of Jonava district, Mindaugas Sinkevičius. The mayor wished the residents of Jonavis peace and harmony, calm and pleasant anticipation of the upcoming holidays.
On the initiative of the mayor of Jonava, the town of Christmas trees, which has become a tradition, has once again been created in the city center this year, where a record number of institutions, companies and communities of the Jonava district put up their trees. The theme of this year’s town is fairy tales, so when you visit here you can find out what fairy tale is hidden in each of the nearly 90 Christmas trees.
On the festive evening in Jonava, the pedestrian-cyclist bridge across Žeimių street also shone, and another Christmas tree in Jonanių slėni was decorated by the company “Jonavos paslaugos”.
Part of the large festive program on Saturday was dedicated to the smallest participants of the festival, who had fun with festive characters and Santa Claus, sold at the educational events of the National Museum and the Jonava Tourist Information Center, and rode the electric Christmas car.
The singer Iglė Bernotaitytė and the rock band “Biplan” will perform at the festive concert for the residents of Jonavi. Various festive events and concerts will be held in the Jonava cultural center later in December.
