Shooting sports: Sport shooting: Salzburg State League 2022
Due to the corona pandemic, shooting sport had to take a break in 2020 and was only possible to a limited extent in 2021. For this reason, the Salzburg state league for all large-calibre shooters in Salzburg was introduced for the first time this year at the privileged Salzburg state main shooting range. Designed as a long-distance competition, shooters from all over the state could take part with handguns. The principle is simple: every shooter completes a monthly competition at a distance of 25m from February up to and including November, in long-distance mode from his home shooting range. In addition, competitions are held at the shooting ranges in St. Johann, Bischofshofen and at the Salzburg State Main Shooting Range. At the end of the year, the evaluation takes place, in which the overall winners of each discipline are chosen.
This year, the Salzburger Landesliga 2022 was again a complete success: around 70 shooters competed in nine disciplines throughout the year and completed the required competitions. In the women’s class, Susanne Paar was able to win the overall victory in the A class and Claudia Loeffelberger won the annual ranking in the women’s B class. Andreas Mösl, who already achieved both overall victories at the Austrian championships in September in Lower Austria, was also unbeatable in the men’s category A+ and, in addition to the annual ranking, was also able to take home a special honorary trophy as a thank you for his great achievements. Georg Mösl showed in the men’s B class and secured victory here, while Manfred Strasser dominated the competition in the B class. James Toal was able to win the annual ranking in class C.
All overall victories in the Salzburg State League 2022 this year went to shooters from the privileged state main shooting range in Salzburg – further proof of the great form of the shooters at one of the shooting ranges in the state.
