Toulouse: at Sept-Deniers, the station of the 3rd metro line makes some people happy
Work on the 3rd metro line will begin on December 15 in Toulouse. In the Sept-Deniers district, the establishment of a metro station near the Stade Toulousain, aroused various reactions.
A few steps from the Stade Ernest Wallon in Toulouse, at the corner of the chemin des Sept-Deniers and the rue de Troènes, mechanical shovels are gradually eating away at the car park, which will become, at the end of these six years of work, the one of the stations of the 3rd metro line.
For several years, some residents of the district have however done their utmost to ensure that the latter is deployed on the side of Place Job, which adjoins the road to Blagnac, where all the shops in the district are concentrated. And not on the side of the Stade Toulousain, where the enthusiasm of the Red and Black supporters, already poses serious traffic problems on match days. “It seems to us that this choice of the municipality portends densification around the metro station. In other words, the creation of housing and commercial activities”, launches Thomas Bunel, president of the district committee of Sept-Deniers.

“This metro station will be convenient”
The misfortune of some is the happiness of others. Some residents of the Chemin des Sept Deniers are delighted with the birth of a metro entrance near their homes. Even if the circulation of construction machinery, in this somewhat narrow street, causes concern.
“I wonder how it will go. But, I see that the traffic is well managed when there are matches. So I remain confident. I am happy that the station is installed here, it is a poorly served place. With the stadium next door, it will be practical”, launches Pauline.
“We have a few questions about the logistics of this work. But I find that efforts have been made on match days. It’s less crowded. So that should do it,” slips Sylvie in turn.

Hugo Carbonel, from the cellar “Chez Vincent”, on the road to Blagnac, is also satisfied. “If the station had been installed on Place Job, it would have distorted the neighborhood. The works would have congested our street, and impacted our activity”, testifies the trader.
But in the future, the appearance of the metro entrance could well and truly tarnish the joy of local residents. “When we look at the visuals of the future building, we realize that it will be very high. Some residents are upset and do not understand why Tisséo is considering such a massive structure”, confides Thomas Bunel.
