Tested with a faster train to shorten the Brussels-Amsterdam route by half an hour
The Dutch railway company NS started test drives with the new train that will be used on the connection between Brussels and Amsterdam. The faster train should help to reduce the travel time between the two cities by half an hour.

The test runs with the new Intercity (type ICNG) are necessary to ensure that the train gains access to the Dutch and Belgian railways, says NS. They are carried out together with train manufacturer Alstom.
The new train should enter service in the course of 2024 as Intercity Brussels (also known as the Benelux train from Amsterdammer). With a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour, it is faster than the current trains (160 kilometers per hour), which should help to reduce the travel time between Brussels and Amsterdam by half an hour. Including in 2 hours and 52 minutes.
Dutch media previously wrote that some Belgian stops may also be killed in order to destroy the movement on the Amsterdam-Brussels route, but the Belgian railway company NMBS denies that on Friday. “Together with NS, we are looking at the possibilities for improvement on the Brussels-Amsterdam connection in the context of the next cooperation agreement. But based on what is on the table, the Belgian stations that now have a connection with the Netherlands will continue to maintain that connection,” said NMBS spokesman Bart Crols.
