VILLENEUVE-LÈS-AVIGNON The CCI presents a check to the disaster-stricken La Tartine bakery
He is not ready to forget this afternoon of June 7, Antoine Legrand, baker at La Tartine, on the Hauts de Villeneuve.
That afternoon, the false ceiling of the bakery catches fire, while the baker and customers are there. If the flames cause no injuries, “everything is dead, only the four walls remain and 500,000 euros in damages”, whispered the baker. In question: a short circuit in the false ceiling probably improved by a rodent.

Now, it is 600,000 euros in damages, by adding the operating loss. “It is a major establishment in the Hauts de Villeneuve, which is greatly missed”estimates the president of the Gard Rhodanian delegation of the Gard CCI, Pierre Bories, when handing over a check for 5,000 euros to the baker, Friday morning in Villeneuve.
“Rapid support, voted in record time”continues the president of the consular delegation who pleaded the cause of the baker, “a boost to pay my debts to my suppliers and buy small equipment until I can be reimbursed by the insurance”, underlines the interested party. If all goes well, Antoine Legrand, who notably supplies schools, retirement homes in the town and the Bellerive clinic, hopes to reopen. “between February 15 and March 1. » Until then, its ten employees remain on partial unemployment.
