Unemployment has fallen: positive development on the labor market
“Since the beginning of 2022 we have been observing a consistently very positive development on the labor market, increases in unemployment are mainly limited to seasonal effects,” said Labor Minister Martin Kocher (ÖVP) in a statement. The development was also confirmed as stable compared to the previous month, when 319,232 people were looking for a job. At just over 10,000, the number of unemployed rose only slightly.
In view of the labor shortage that is prevalent in many sectors, the situation remains tense. At the end of the past month, 113,180 vacancies were registered with the Public Employment Service (AMS), 12,399 or 12.3 percent more than in the previous year.
