Prague 2: The Advent season will once again be marked by rich cultural experiences
01.12.2022 9:15 | Press Release
With the advent stop at Ludmila, the second part of the city started a series of pre-Christmas events, which the town hall traditionally organizes for its residents during this period. Advent concerts in churches with free admission or the possibility of sports at public ice rinks are especially popular.
“A time is beginning that should be filled with love, hope and expectation. They should have rejoiced at every little thing that befell us. That’s why I’m very happy that we all met here again today after a two-year covid break. I am already very much looking forward to the fact that we will really enjoy one of the most beautiful seasons of the year together this year,” said the Mayor of Prague 2, Alexandra Udženija, on the occasion of the start of the Advent season on Náměstí Míru.
The Advent stop at Ludmila’s, which took place this year for the twentieth time, did not disappoint this year either. A rich program in the form of pouring Christmas soup to passers-by, creative works and a theater performance for children attracts visitors of all generations. Advent market stalls were also surrounded by traditional Christmas assortments. And there was also the expected festive lighting of the Christmas tree, which the children helped to decorate with their own hands.
“Advent at Dvojka includes not only cultural and social events, but also sporting activities. After previous successful seasons, we are therefore re-opening the ice rink in Grébovce and opening the ice rink for the first time in the new Jammertal leisure area in the Folimanka park. I believe that, thanks to its location, it will quickly find its supporters, especially from Podskalí or Nuslí,” adds the Deputy Mayor of Prague 2, Jan Korseska.
