A concierge system, bottle transport solutions, loyalty tools, a strong emphasis on people… These were some of the themes suggested in the workshops of the first Lab’oenotourisme organized by the Bourgogne-Franche region. -Comté, this November 29 in Dijon, in Côte-d’Or.
About a hundred professionals from viticulture, tourism, private and institutional actors took part in the meeting included in the regional plan wine tourism (SRO) voted in 2020 by the regional assembly to support its players and push the accommodation offer and eco-responsibility.
“20% of wine tourists in France practice this activity in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté”, declared at the opening of the work Patrick Ayache, vice-president of the region in charge of tourism. “That is to say the challenge of this sector for regional tourism. We are therefore pursuing a strategy that aims for excellence in order to become one of the pilot regions in this field and in respect of responsible tourism”.
“80% market share to be gained”
Director of the Emotio Tourisme agency and expert on the subject, François Perroy had been invited to open the work with a mini-conference on the major trends in France and around the world, evoking a world market of 100 million of these tourists curious about wines. and vineyards, for a turnover of the sector revealed, in 2030, at 30 billion dollars.
“There is still 80% market share to be won, let’s go frankly”, he concluded, inviting the players in the vineyards of Burgundy and Jura to invest and innovate. “Wine tourism in France is driven by the terroir, heritage, culture, human relations and entertainment networks, whereas elsewhere it is more focused on marketing and entertainment, you have to feed on that to find a balance. . »
With its regional plan, the region wants to operationally implement the development of the sector. For 2022, a budget of 2.1 million euros has been allocated to it, including 2 million for the installation of the headquarters International Organization of Vine and Wine in Dijon, scheduled for 2024.
“The objective of this first meeting was to translate this scheme and to acculturate the different actors and we felt a real cohesion between the different institutional structures”, noted with satisfaction Charlotte Waeber, project manager for the region’s tourism department. .
